Andrew is lead consultant for the East of Scotland Regional Health Protection Service.  He is also Deputy Faculty Adviser for the Faculty of Public Health in Scotland.

Prior to this role he trained and worked as a Public Health Consultant in Dumfries and Galloway following previous clinical and teaching roles  in the west of Scotland.

He originally trained as a nurse in Glasgow, where he also undertook further studies at masters and doctoral level in public health and complex decision making.
